Teachers strive to create a highly engaged classroom for all students. This can be even more challenging when instruction and learning occur in a virtual setting. Susan Hentz and Michelle Vacchio provides a great resource to building student engagement in “Engaging Students in Every Classroom”. Using the 4 steps to foster student engagement provided in that resource, IEPRC has created a Virtual Classroom Engagement document which includes links to websites to help teachers build a positive and engaging virtual classroom.

When providing remote instruction and learning activities to students with Individual Education Programs (IEP) and Section 504 Plans, it is required to provide accommodations as stated within each student’s plan. This guidance document can assist teachers in supporting students during continuous learning.
